Why is everybody buying CBD for their mums?

In the US, in particular, many CBD retailers were offering CBD gift bags for mothers this year as they braced to spend Mother's day in quarantine.

CBD gifts associated with stress relief are acting as an alternative to the traditional gifts associated with mother's day. Fragrances, which are a trendy gift usually, were shown to be the worst-performing beauty category this year.

However, female-centered cannabis-based products were shown to be doing exceptionally well in comparison, with some companies showing a 44% increase in revenue since the start of 2020.

It appears as though hemp-derived products are finally becoming more mainstream with the stigma around using CBD slowly disappearing.

Why are more mums suddenly deciding to try CBD now?

With everyone being in quarantine, the stress levels for many parents will have risen through the roof. Some are having to act as teachers as well as parents, having to keep the kids entertained continuously; it's a lot to deal with without getting any time alone.

This, in conjunction with the fact that leaving the house to go shopping has become more difficult as well as the fact it increases the risk of catching Covid-19, has meant that many of us are now making the majority of our purchases online.

In the US, many women have suggested that the time spent in lockdown has opened consumer's minds to both CBD and cannabis.

The quarantine period has moved people's perceptions that may have previously not been willing or were convinced by the war on drugs, so they had developed a stigma around plants.

What benefits does CBD have for Women?

Well, as CBD helps us to maintain a balanced internal environment, it could help with issues such as hormonal imbalance and high levels of stress, as well as the symptoms associated with things like PMS and menopause.

There is no evidence yet that says CBD can have a direct positive influence on menopause. However, it may help with the other symptoms menopause causes such a preventing sleep loss and may help to treat some of the anxiety that can also have an impact on sleep.

One study showed that CBD could help to regulate the levels of cortisol (stress hormone) secretion, on top of that hemp-based products contain lots of omega-six fatty acid which is also known to help regulate hormone levels.

CBD may also provide a solution for dealing with the symptoms of PCOS and endometriosis, which are common conditions among women that can cause severe pain of the ovaries and lead to low mood, irritability, and higher levels of inflammation. Taking CBD for PCOS and Endometriosis may help relieve some of the symptoms.

CBD is now being put into multiple beauty products as a 2014 study suggested that it could help reduce acne breakouts due to its ability to regulate oil production in the skin (sebum production). CBD's ability to affect skin health may be why it's also being used in products looking to treat eczema, psoriasis, and skin rashes.
